Space Shuttle mural I painted in high school

Created by kleucht 2 years ago: "When I was in high school in 1988 I was really into anything that was even remotely related to art. I loved drafting classes and all of the different art classes too. My art teacher organized some of the best art students there and had them paint a few organized and approved murals around the school. I was allowed to paint a Space Shuttle mural upstairs on the big 2-story wall just outside the library. I was also into space, and I had some NASA photos and mission patches and I basically just painted a collage of some of the items in that material. I dedicated the mural to the crew of the Challenger mission that was lost during their launch on January 28th, 1986. I took these photos in the summer of 2002, so the mural was at least there for 14 years. I think they had to paint over it a few years ago, though.

Sandra Boynton Mural Room

Created by kleucht 2 years ago: "There are many reasons that we created this Sandra Boynton Room. One (not so good) reason is that we made the Dr. Seuss Room (http://cre.ations.net/creation/dr-seuss-mural-room) for our first child and wanted to be fair. Mostly, we wanted to create a living space that was bright and cheery for our new little baby. And we also wanted an environment that helped spawn our child's imagination and creativity. We both enjoy Sandra Boynton books (and audio CD's) very much, and it seemed to us that most of the Sandra Boynton characters and scenes used bright primary colors. Plus, these books just make us smile. Also, I really like to draw and paint. So, after I drew up some sketches of the room using scenes from a couple of Sandra Boynton books that we had laying around the house, it was not difficult to talk my wife into the Sandra Boynton mural scheme.

When my wife and I found out that we were pregnant with our first child, we wanted to create a living space that was bright and cheery for our little baby. But we also wanted an environment that helped spawn our child's imagination and creativity. We chose not to find out if our baby was going to be a boy or a girl, so we wanted to use a primary color scheme in the nursery. One that would fit nicely for either a boy or a girl. We both enjoyed Dr. Seuss books very much when we were children, and it seemed to us that most of the Dr. Seuss characters and scenes used bright primary colors. Plus, I really like to draw and paint. This one I like very much. I took this macro photo of a freshly opened lemon blossom in my back yard in Central Florida a couple weeks ago. The colors are great and you can see the pieces of fresh pollen quite clearly. There was a large bee flying around gathering pollen as I was taking this photo, but he wouldn't stay in one place long enough for me to take his photo.

Click "full" to see the high resolution version. No photoshopping or adjusting of any kind was performed other than a simple crop.

I'd only owned this digital pocket camera for about a week, which tells you what a quality camera it is. It's a Canon Powershot A530 model. I highly recommend any of the Canon Powershot..."
Read the rest of this post
