Toybox and shelf/desk for kids

All > Home > Furniture > Toybox and shelf/desk for kids by kleucht
After not finding any kid furniture that my wife and I were completely happy with, I decided to design and build my own large rolling toybox and plastic-bin holding shelf. The shelf is designed to turn into a desk for when the kids are older.

It's all made from heavy (3/4 inch?) plywood and some dowel rods. I used buscuit joints everywhere and it's all strong enough for an adult to jump up and down on.

That's really neat... I've got to keep your idea in the back of my head for when I have kids... quick question... does the toybox come all the way out, or is it basically like a really big drawer?

It comes all the way out. It is a standalone piece of furniture on casters. Sometimes we push the toybox into the living room for playtime. Glad you like it!

Your toy box with the shelf is ingenious and exactly what I am looking for. Do you have the plans available? How much would you charge for a copy?

I'd be happy to give the plans away to anyone who is interested, but I don't have any plans. I just sort of made it up as I went along. I really should draw up some plans. I'll put that on my to do list. Glad you like it.
