My husband is very good at carving sand arches, and frequently does so when we go to the beach. I thought I'd give it a shot. I started with a lump of very compact sand and just started carving away at it. It's nice to have sculpting tools.

Once I got the basic shape, I carved downward and made the arch bigger that way. It's easier that way because the sand is already very compacted for you, and less likely to fall apart.

Then I just kept making it thinner and thinner.
