These sculptures (Elephant 2mm, and David 1cm)are hand carved from bone. My detail pictures are more microsculptures rather than more shots of these ones. Willard Wigan started his career making things this small then worked his way down to even smaller objects, this is my beginning. Also note I never use magnifying glasses or microscopes.
This chair I carved last thanksgiving from a flake of turkey leg bone. My thumb is for size comparison, so its about four mm tall and its sitting on the head of a finishing nail.
I visited the cross roads mall in Washington State, they had a mammoth chess set that you could play, this was my response to that experience. Positioned on a X-acto blade, this knight and pawn are carved from pencil lead.
A tiny house on the head of a pin which I also painted. My paint palet would dry up in less than 10 seconds unless I exhaled upon it, to keep it moist. The trunks of the trees are my own hair.
Not even close to as small a scale but still small. Thought I would throw in a postage stamp sized painting of Einstein.
A easter island head sitting on the lense cover for my macro, he is half a centimeter tall and was carved from pencil lead, this was one of my very first carvings.
