Frozen Alien Embryo

All > "Art" > Sculpture > Frozen Alien Embryo by frohickey
This is a plastic and polymer clay sculpture that was originally meant to be the protoype of a resin model kit but lack of funds ended the project. I then assembled and finished the components into the result you see here. The embryo is about four inches tall and the cylinder measures about 13 inches when sealed. I eventually found a use for it as a cover illustration for a local SF anthology magazine.

Here is a closer look at the alien inside. The cylinder will close smoothly (if I remove the soda can that's propping up the lid inside).
Now you can see the alien in all its embrionic glory. I rather like the vein details. The vapor inside is created from some water and a chunk of dry ice.
The keypad is cast in resin from an old calculator and numbered using dry transfer lettering. The handle on top is plastic tubing and frefabricated parts used for oli refinery architectural models.

That is beautiful... but why are alien babies radioactive?

Thank you very much. There is supposedly a connection between UFO sightings/landings/abductions and unusual amounts of excess radiation. None of these reports are more than anecdotal but the UFO lore seems to be consistent. Also, I had a genuine radiation warning decal that I got from a guy who worked at a decal production shop. All the other decals on the cylinder came from the same place.

I like it. Art and Science Fiction collide.
